My Best Friend

After learning how to describe people´s physical characteristics, my students have been asked to draw, color and write about their best friends.

My favorite singer

My students learned how to describe their talents. After practicing the structure and learning the names of the musical instruments, I assigned the following task: DRAW, COLOR AND WRITE ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE SINGER. A few students claimed not to have a favorite singer, so I suggested that they create one.

My Super Duper School

The images below are supposed to be used to practice describing one's school. Students can practice CAN for permission, CAN'T for prohibition, HAVE TO for obligation and DON'T HAVE TO for not necessary. They can also practice saying which their favorite subject is and when they have it and which their least favorite subject is. They can also practice saying when and what time they have each subject. To wrap things up, students may be asked to write a short paragraph about their school.

Super Duper studies in the morning. He goes to school in Brasília, Brazil. Look what it's like:

Dvolver

Unfortunately I had to remove the post about Dvolver because of the nonstop music. I think you got the idea, anyway.

My Super Duper Weekend

The activities proposed for these illustrations are similar to the ones proposed for "My Super Duper Routine". The ultimate purpose is to have students write about themselves.

Super Duper has a lot of fun on the weekend. Check him out!

My Super Duper Routine

Super Duper is a character I created to illustrate my wiki superduperctj.pbworks.com, which I use to make my students and their parents aware of the activities assigned in class and for homework, and also test dates. I also use it to share materials with the teachers I work with.  Here are two activities I designed for practicing the third person in the Simple Present. The ultimate goal here is to have students write about themselves.

Teens Digital Project 1 - 2012: Go animate

The first project of the semester gave students the opportunity to practice the structure learned, which was polite questions. The tool used here was GoAninate, in which students write a dialog and make it into an animated video.

Teens Digital Project 3 - 2012 : Mixbook

This semester, my teen students learned how to talk about their responsibilities at home, their house chores. After learning and practicing all the vocabulary involved when talking about chores, they learned how to use MIXBOOK and created a digital project. I'm not ashamed to admit that this is my favorite tool. It's very easy to be used, the result looks terrific, students are able to write digitally (my favorite part) and you can always edit it. This task was assigned to be done at home and be presented in the following class. Here are a few:

Hi there!!!

Good Morning my dear friends! I'm back. Never before had I been away for so long. I have a lot to share but since I'm not an organized person (and that is something I'm struggling with, because many times I get held back, which is frustrating) I will be sharing everything little by little when time allows that. Although I haven't been able to post anything in this blog, I have carried out a few interesting digital projects with my teen and adult students. It'll be worth waiting.

Classdigitools: Task 3

Here I am again! Very late with my tasks, by the way, because I have been up to my eyes in work, so I just couldn´t sit and do my tasks. Even so, I´m still keeping faith and living the famous "Better Late Than Never" motto.

Let´s get down to business, shall we? Creative writing is something I love doing. I have always enjoyed using my imagination when writing and sometimes I use such activities in class, with flashcards in particular, which work perfectly. I usually place them around or tape them on the board. Students select a few and write a story based on those pictures. They enjoy the process, thinking about it makes them smile wondering how funny or crazy their stories are and how their peers will react to them once they read them outloud. And of course, the best part is sharing them. They have a lot of fun. The task assigned for week 2 is here: http://classdigitools.pbworks.com/w/page/47831193/Week2. All we had to do was briefly select one among different characters, settings and plots and create a short starter for a story. Then, we posted them in the comment area.
